Class overview
The Year of the Fire Horse is traditionally considered a dynamic year, full of change and opportunity. However, this year is unique in the 60 year cycle of Daoist cosmology. It is the Year of the Dragon Horse, where leadership and direction will sustain the swift transformations of fire. We are at a juncture, experiencing massive shifts that will define global conditions for many years to come. The fast pace allows for immense success, as the Chinese good luck blessing “with the horse’s arrival, victory is achieved” wishes. However, one person in the middle of the chaos of change must gain insight and physical strength to maintain balance.
Master Guiguzi, the “Master of Demon Valley” was an ancient strategist of the Dao, direct student of Confucius and Confucius’s master, Laozi. His compiled teachings not only explore the methods of dissecting complex conditions into achievable strategies and goals. His true mastery was the awareness of the most basic building blocks of reality, yin and yang. Not only did he teach the relationship combinations of yin and yang that blend successfully for social, political and economic success; shocking in his time, but used by military strategists from Sunzi all the way to Napoleon and into our times.
In fact, Guiguzi’s knowledge goes to the deepest root of human consciousness. Through a series of physical exercises, the practitioner cultivates the ability to cut out the noise and chaos and view every question and choice as a simple, binary choice. This is the foundation of Yijing consciousness, the inner voice that directs the will with the guidance of universal law and the flow of heaven and earth.
These exercises are discussed in every line of Guiguzi’s teachings, but in metaphor. Only in the oral tradition, upheld by Master Wang Chongyang and his disciples in the Quanzhen Dao, or Complete Reality School, were the physical practices treasured in secret, awaiting the time when society would be able to accept both the practice, the theories and the commitment to change.
In today’s upheavals, renown Daoist Master and Traditional Chinese Medicine expert, Dr. Baolin Wu has calculated the importance of presenting these trainings to the public for the first and only time. In a wide ranging, full day seminar, we will learn:
The Strengthening Techniques of the 8 Voids: A powerful series of joint mobility exercises, lymphatic stimulation and acupressure massage for maintaining Yuan Qi, the Primordial Qi that is the source of all vital energy in the body.
Yijing calculations for The Year of the Fire Horse, for each zodiac sign as well as for large socio-economic and geopolitical events.
Mental training to bring peaceful calm to the mind, to reinforce the inner voice of guidance, generate powerful manifestation focus and enhance the perception of simple, binary choice and yin/yang harmony.
We will finish with the Quanzhen School 9 Palaces ritual form, adjusted specifically for this special year of the Dragon Horse.
